The Rippel Coat of Arms

Coats of Arms were developed in the Middle Ages as a means of identifying warriors in battle and tournaments. The present function of the Coat of Arms (although still one of identity) serves more to preserve the traditions that arose from its earlier use.

Heraldic artists of old, developed their own unique language to describe an individual Coat of Arms. The Coat of Arms illustrated herein was drawn by an heraldic artist from information recorded in ancient heraldic archives. Translated the Coat of Arms below that is most representative of the Rippel surname.

THE RIPPEL COAT OF ARMS HERE-BY-ILLUSTRATED IS OFFICIALLY DOCUMENTED IN "RIETSTAP'S ARMORIAL GENERAL".

DIVIDED VERTICALLY BLACK AND GOLD; A GREEN MOUND OF THREE HILLS IN BASE, PIERCED WITH A SEMI-CIRCULAR OPENING, SHOWING THE FIELD; THE MOUND ISSURMOUNTED BY A SIX POINTED STAR, COUNTERCHANGED, ACCOMPANIED BY TWO MEN'S RIBS ISSUING FROM THE MOUND,  ALSO COUNTERCHANGED. ALSO THE CREST IS FIVE PURPLE OSTRICH FEATHERS.

ABOVE THE SHIELD AND HELMET IS THE CREST WHICH IS DESCRIBED AS: A YOUNG MAN ISSUING, HIS CLOTHING DIVIDED VERTICALLY BLACK AND GOLD, CHARGED WITH A SIX POINTED STAR, COUNTERCHANGED; HIS COLLAR COUNTERCHANGED; WREATHED ABOUT THE HEAD GOLD AND BLACK; HOLDING IN EACH HAND, A RIB; THE RIGHT ONE IS GOLD AND LEFT ONE IS BLACK.       Thank you to Halbert's Family Heritage for there research and information above.
